Page 1: Introduction

Welcome to University of Gloucestershire’s ‘Stepping Towards’ e-learning course. This half-day training explains the basics of hosting a Social Work student. Your potential student could be enrolled on either our Social Work degree or Social Work Masters programme, which are direct entry programmes. Alternatively, they could be part of our Social Work apprenticeship scheme.

All students will typically be completing a 70-day or 100-day placement. Apprentice students will be learning on the job and require ongoing support throughout their degree programme.

At the end of this ‘Stepping Towards’ course, you should be able to understand what the requirements are for hosting students. You will also know what commitment is involved from you and your team. That way, you can make an informed choice about whether you’d like to go ahead.

This training is designed to be completed at a pace which suits you. The main part of this training is a video which you can pause, then resume. The ‘finish later’ option requires that you enter your email address so the system can send you a link. Please note, this link can take up to ten minutes to arrive. Click the e-mailed link when you want to resume training. The system starts where you left off, saving valuable time.
